Are You Discouraged Because of the Way?

Fear and resentment leads to discouragement and being “discouraged because of the way” will lead us to being “snake-bit” with “BIT-terness.” This pattern ultimately ends in death.

The only cure for discouragement and bitterness, as found in this passage (verses 8-9), is to look at the “cross” and “live.” As the song writer wrote, “Look and Live, my brother live. Look to Jesus now and live.”

When we turn our eyes upon Jesus and take them off of ourselves, we find that Jesus went the distance for us, having endured the cross while despising the shame, but he was not discouraged nor would be drink the poison of being bitter at God or man. Rather, he died having fulfilled his Father’s will, while forgiving man because they knew not what they did.

Looking upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, we find love instead of fear, faith instead of resentment, courage instead of discouragement, peace instead of bitterness, life instead of death, and hope for the rest of the journey
