The Eternal Purpose
“The Eternal Purpose” - Ephesians 3:11
God had/has an eternal purpose according to his “manifold wisdom” (verse 10) from “before the foundation of the world” (1:4). That eternal purpose was that Jesus Christ should come into the world and die for the sins of sinners so that they might receive him as the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23).
Upon one’s belief from the heart and confession with the mouth (Romans 10:9-13), God through the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence within the believer (2:18-22).
From then on, every child of God has an eternal purpose in Christ Jesus. No child of God is meant to wander aimlessly in this world without a purpose or plan that lines up with the wisdom and will of God (1:1).
Jesus Christ didn’t just save you to keep you out of hell or take you to heaven (1Jn. 3:8), but he saved you to give your life a purpose for living (Eccl. 3:1). He saved you to fellowship with, so that he might make known to you what he has purposed for you to do (Prov. 20:18). God is a God of purpose (Rom. 8:28). God sent his Son with a purpose (1:11). God saved you on purpose (2Tim. 1:9). God has an eternal purpose for your life. Be purposed in your heart and do something on purpose for God and for someone else today (2Tim. 3:10).
