Cast Not Away Your Confidence
“Cast Not Away Your Confidence” - Hebrews 10:35
This is a great spiritual truth regarding the confidence a Christian should have concerning their faith in eternal matters (Philippians 1:6; 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Ephesians 3:12). We can be confident in what the word of God says as it pertains to our eternal destination and our relationship to Christ while here on the earth.
There is a great doctrinal implication within this verse as to a “Hebrew” in the tribulation not casting away his confidence (“boldness” “courage” “assurance” or “trust”) in the return of his Messiah, at the second advent, “which hath great recompense of reward,” to “receive the promise,” “remission of sins” (10:18), and to “obtain that world” (Luke 20:35-36).
But, practically we should not cast away our confidence as it pertains to our character, when someone or something seeks to destroy it. If you have trained, learned, studied, and worked hard to build up your confidence, then you shouldn’t throw it all away before receiving the reward of your accomplishments. Keep pursuing your goals. Keep pressing toward the mark for the prize. Keep training and working hard with confidence to obtain the crown.
