SIT WHERE THEY SIT

What an amazing truth we have here in Ezekiel 3:15, wherein God would have his servant, Ezekiel, to sit where the sinners sat. Ezekiel sat and observed, watched and listened for seven days before receiving instruction from the LORD as to what he should say and do and where he should go next.

This could be a great lesson to Christians on dealing with the lost. Like Ezekiel (called a “son of man” 93 times) and like Christ (called the “Son of man”83 times), when we meet sinners from all walks of life, we should “sit where they sit” (they more often than not, don’t sit in church) watching, observing, and listening to what they say while waiting for the Spirit of the Lord to guide us into what we should say or do or where we should go next.

Generally, we are in a rat-race hurry to get from one place to the other without considering those we walk past or are sitting next to. It may not be the worst of evils to sit and listen before up and running.

When God gave something for Ezekiel to say, it wasn’t compromised or watered down or unclear. It was a straightforward warning and invitation. So too, when it is time to speak to that sinner, we should warn them of their wicked ways and give them an opportunity to repent unto salvation.
