The Sad Reality

Nothing has changed in nearly 2,500 years. The same spiritual condition that God saw with his children in Ezekiel’s day, God sees in his children today. God has been seeing and condemning the behavior of his children for a VERY LONG time.

The children of God will come to church, they will sit in their place, they will listen to the words of God, but they will not do what God’s word says they should do.

Why? Because they have a heart condition. With their mouth they speak of “much love” (i.e. I love God, I loved the message, I loved the music, I love the people, I love the fellowship, etc.), but with the heart they can only think of anywhere else they’d rather be and anything else they’d rather be doing. Will they change their attitude towards those things that God is against? No! Will they attend to those thing that need to be attended to? No! Will they abstain from those things that God says to abstain from? No! Will they pray? No! Read and study their Bibles? No!

Why? Because they have set up idols (“stuff”) in their heart that would have to be broken down, and they have “filthiness” (“scum”) in their heart and mind that needs to be cleansed. Rather than address those things individually or collectively, they keep them hidden from the view of other Christians by shewing “much love” but forgetting God sees the thoughts and intents of the heart.
