Executing True Judgment
Not easy to do! Especially while showing “mercy and compassion” the “brother” refuses to hearken, pulls away the shoulder, and stops the ears from hearing the truth.
Nevertheless we must “execute true judgment.” While we may want to “execute” the stubborn brother, we must shew mercy and compassion knowing that in the process of showing him the errors of his ways and trying to help him do or believe what is right, he will refuse to “execute true judgment” himself. He will have to face the true judgment of God either in the flesh or in the spirit at the judgment seat of Christ.
This is a fine line to walk and a hard balance to strike, and the flesh will not go “willingly.” Paul says to “preach the word,” pray for one another, and “put away…that wicked person.” The greatest act of mercy and compassion in this situation, while also executing true judgment, is to have no fellowship with an individual who will not hear or hearken to the truth, while also praying for him to get right.
