Be Not Deceived

The way to “take heed lest any man deceive you” is to “take heed to what ye hear.” Any man is capable of deceiving any other man at any given time that one is not taking heed.

One of the earmarks of the “perilous times” during the end of the Laodicean church age is that “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13). “Many” will come and teach or preach in Jesus’ name, but they have been deceived by false doctrine concerning Christ, and they in turn are deceiving others (i.e. Don’t follow Paul follow Christ, Christ taught the same doctrine as Paul, I’m following Christ’s teachings not a man, “He gets us”). The Bible warns in Proverbs 4:14 not to enter into “the way of evil men.” (“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.”).

Teaching by evil men is deceiving, through hypocrisy, and is contrary to the sound doctrine and scripture of 2 Timothy 2:15 & 3:14-17. The way to “take heed” is to check “any man” with the Book, especially the books that Paul wrote from Romans-Philemon. If Paul said it, then it’s sound doctrine for the church. If Paul didn’t say it, then it may be sound doctrine BUT for somebody else AND for some other time.

“Take heed what ye hear” lest “any man deceive you.”
