God is at hand

What a mighty God we serve! The God who “fill(s) heaven and earth” is the same God who is always “at hand…and not…afar off.” There is no “secret place” that a man can “hide himself” and where the LORD can not “see him” or hear what he says.

For the believer, the child of God by the new birth, God’s Spirit indwells him, so that not only is God at hand but we are in and part of God’s hand and God is ever present within him.

As such, we have the Spirit of God to guide and direct and lead us into all truth. So that, when false prophets and false teachers arise at the end of the church age to prophesy after the “deceit of their own heart” (verse 26) we might not be deceived by those “filthy dreamers” (Jude 1:8) who “steal my (God’s) words” (verse 30) for personal profit and gain.

God’s word is like a “fire” to try man’s words and like a “hammer” to build truth and break the rock of lies. May we humbly seek and hide God’s words in our heart so that we “be not deceived.” (Galatians 6:7)
