Parting Ways
Here, we have a departing when Jesus, after his gospel (verse 46), was “parted from them (his disciples), and carried up into heaven.” Departing/partings are hard regardless of the reason or circumstances. The saying can be “parting is such sweet sorrow.” Many have lost the one’s they love to heaven because the Lord has “carried” them there.
There is a time of believing “not for joy” (verse 41) the truth surrounding their parting of ways and a time of wonderment on how to move forward and what life will be like moving forward.
There will come a time where we have to “continue” without them, and in that continuation we can go back to where joy is found in worship, praising, and blessing God.
A huge hole is left when there is a parting (Joshua and Moses, Elisha and Elijah, Jesus and his disciples, Paul and Timothy, etc.) but there is joy and blessing in believing that one day there will be a reuniting and no more partings “over there.”
