Trials to Triumph
Joseph was prosperous In Potiphar’s house, the Prison house, and the Palace, but his prosperity came in the wake of problems. Joseph was in a pit before becoming prosperous in Potiphar’s house. He was falsely accused and thrown into prison before becoming prosperous there. And he was forgotten and forsaken before becoming prosperous in the palace of Pharaoh.
Prosperity is of the Lord (39:2, 23). He will put us through betrayals, trials, afflictions, problems, and disappointments for the sole purpose of making us prosperous in his way and not our own.
Up until now Jospeh’s life looks like a failure. It looked like his “dreams” (37:5) would never come to pass, but the Lord had to put Jospeh through a series of defeats to get him to a place of victory. God let Joseph feel the pain of losing everything, so he knew how to handle anything.
In the end God prospered not only Jospeh, but Potiphar, the prisoners, Pharaoh, and the Patriarchs. Today’s trials could turn into tomorrow’s triumphs.
