From "A to Z"

Lamech married “A to Z” (Adah and Zillah) making him the first man to cover the whole Phoenician alphabet in his marriages.

In Matthew 23:35 & Luke 11:51, we find that blood is shed from “A to Z” from Abel to Zacharias. While Lamech was claiming “self-defense” in Genesis 4:23, the blood of Abel and Zacharias was “shed” through murder. It has been stated that this account reveals the canon of OT scripture according to the Hebrew Bible (Jewish Canon), which starts with Genesis (Abel) and ends with 2 Chronicles (Zacharias).

There has been plenty of marriages since Lamech and plenty of blood shed since Zacharias, but the only blood shed that can atone for ALL the blood shed, is the blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:14; Revelation 1:5; 1 John 1:7). And the only marriage that matters as it relates to eternal life, is the marriage of Jesus Christ to his bride, the church (Ephesians 5:23-25).

Thankfully we have a God and Saviour that is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the first and the last. He is the beginning and the ending. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the “A to Z.”
